Crave the Challenge
“Every adversity comes with it the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit” – Napoleon Hill
If more project managers lived by this quote they would likely have a lot less stress. I hear a lot of project managers complain about problems, authority, resources and other issues. My response is always the same: “That’s the nature of projects”.
Not every plan works out. Things will go wrong. Every project manager faces the same issues; it’s how you respond that sets you apart. A challenge doesn’t scare a project warrior, it excites them.
Project warriors look at projects like a good movie. At the heart of every good movie is conflict, with the main character facing and overcoming the conflict as the story unfolds. Good project managers expect and anticipate adversity and look for the opportunities. They realize that the only thing they can control is their attitude, so rather than panic, they remain calm and crave the challenge. They’ve worked hard to hone their skills and they see adversity as their chance to shine.
Live in the answer, not in the problem. Crave the challenge and enjoy the great game of project management.
